This year Jed has taught me to sing a song from pre-school called "Good or Bad". It says: Good or bad, happy or sad, I know that God is there! And indeed, it has encouraged me to face good & bad times, with the assurance that my God is there! So today, we trust whatever the result is, we know God is there for us. So is the result good or bad???
Well, the good side is it is one of a better type cancer with very good prognosis under chemo treatment known as Hodgkins lymphoma. The bad side is the chemo will be much tougher. So we praise God that at least it is a more curable cancer. We do ask God for mercy in the course of chemo, both in terms of the short and long term side effects.
It took a while for the doctor to confirm the type of lymphoma, likewise, we're still in the unknown in terms of the stage of his cancer due to some uncertainty in the result of the PET Scan. Reg went for another scan today and hopefully by next Tuesday, we'll have the result, and begins treatment on Wed. The determination of the stage of his cancer will affect the course of chemo, so once again, we ask for people to pray for clarity & precision in the diagnosis.
We have been informed the drug used for treatment will have a huge impact to the heart & lungs, so Reg is in for heart & lung function tests on Monday to determine the probability of success with the use of certain drugs in the chemo process. So we pray for strong heart & lung function & sustainability during treatment.
Another praise point for us is that Jed was being well looked after and had a great time with his playmate today. Thankfully our friends were extremely patience and understanding with our delays in returning home from hospital, and Jed tried his best to behave well and sharing his toys.
Knowing 3 consecutive days of hospital visits next week, we really thank God for His goodess in receiving a phone call tonight with an offer for Jed to see the Wiggles concert and being taken care of by one of his school friend's mum on Monday. We will keep trusting appropriate babysitters for Jed will be found for Tuesday & Wednesday when we have to go to hospital.
